"You are What you Eat." Mermaid Giclée print
From the digital painting series called Mermaid life. Numbered edition digital painting custom printed for you using a high quality Giclée printer and the finest paper. Also included is certificate of authenticity with signature and number.
This stunning Mermaid sits on the rocking shore in the golden hour as waves crashes in. It seems she's just enjoyed a snack as fish bones lay suspiciously below her. Her gaze however, looks not at the bones but unapologetically at you the viewer. Reminding us with out a flicker of doubt, that you are literally what you eat. Personally her confidence with this reality is startling and slightly unsettling. However, in this confrontation she hopefully gets us to look more closely at our actions in this world so we exist with knowledge and acceptance of who we are and what we are capable of.
"Stranded" Mermaid Giclee Print
Stranded. Limited edition digital painting printed on a high quality Giclée printer and the finest paper. Also included is certificate of authenticity with a signature and numbered edition.
In this print a beautiful Mermaid is washed up on shore. The composition juxtaposes the "stranded" mermaid with the shipwreck in the distance. Was there a storm? Did the Mermaid have anything to do with the shipwreck? Is it a coincidence? To me the ocean is mysterious and what washes up on shore holds a history and story. Growing up in Maine I used to love collecting old sea glass, shells or lobster buoys that were washed up on shore because it sparked my imagination. The sea is seemingly infinite and sometimes we have to fill in the stories on our own. I hope this print sparks your imagination and love for the oceans mystifying and mythological presence as it does mine.
The Target Girl Prints
Target Girl is an original oil signed oil painting on Canvas on board. 30x24 inches. Inspired by turn of the century vintage circus performers in their prime.
The target girl traditionally stands in front of a target board as the impalement artist throws knives as to hit the board and miss the assistant. Throughout time the image of the target girl has become an icon. It is such a visceral experience to see the potential for injury or death play out so dramatically on stage. In staring death in the face, the Target girl somehow maintains an enduring appeal has as she displays nerves of steel and complete trust in the artists abilities. At the end of the day throughout history humans are drawn to such a dramatic display of danger even though the reasons why we are can be debated. It is a simple as we love the idea of venerable women or is there more to it?
For what it’s worth I believe we are watching the artists relationship with his or her muse play out in a particularly dramatic fashion. How boring would it be if the impalement artist merely just thew knives at a dart board. The muse, in her display of bravery is one of a hero. She proves her heroic qualities through a seeming sacrifice and by facing danger so calmly. In my painting I wanted to highlight the heroic qualities of the Target girl and hopefully get us to rethink the idea of heroism, vulnerability and implicit danger. In this painting she has flipped the script and now is the one wielding the knife, as if asking the viewer who exactly is the target now?
I see these characters as celebrity before television was invented. Hope this setting sparks your imagination as much as it does mine! This is a signed edition giclée print that is for sale now.
THE CLOWN Giclee Print
This is a very special numbered giclée print of an original oil painting called “The Clown”. Inspired by turn of the century circus imagery and posters. I see these circus performers as the celebrity of their day before modern television and film took over entertainment. This series combines patterns and people into a vintage yet contemporary look and feel.
Personally, I see this character as an enlightened clown that flips the script on the idea of a "sad" clown or "evil" clown that percolates our modern society. No, our friend here is a seasoned clown who over years of bringing happiness to people seems to now emanate a joy that is contagious. So contagious in fact, that he can’t help but bring a smile to your face as he does mine. Thank you for taking a peek and if you decided to buy this print and I hope he brings joy for years to come.
